For more than 30 years; with support from Scottish Government, Education Scotland and our industry partners, YESC has played a leading role in developing resources, competitions and events to grow interest and spark enthusiasm in STEM subjects and careers.
Our comprehensive programme supports teachers to deliver the Scottish Government’s Curriculum for Excellence, with projects for learners working from early level to senior phase (ages 3 to 18).
We have a core focus on working with young people under represented within the STEM sector, particularly girls, BAME pupils, and those from areas of high deprivation or geographic remoteness.
Barefoot workshops are delivered by the YESC team across Scotland. These 1 hour workshops instantly bring the Barefoot resources to life in an interactive session with practical games and activities both online and offline. These sessions give teachers the confidence and knowledge to embed digital skills and activities across the curriculum.
Sessions take place at a time of the schools choosing throughout the year.
Barefoot Computing is a fantastic free teacher training workshop that introduces practitioners to the concept of computational thinking. Once complete teachers have access to the wide range of free resources designed for the classroom.
