I am a principal teacher of BACS in Barrhead High School, and my subject is Computing Science. Starting my journey in Computing Science at Glasgow Caledonian University in 1997, after an open day visit which inspired me to join the faculty as an undergrad. I had always wanted to become a teacher; working with young people and so it was only fitting that I became a Computing Science teacher in 2002. I love to encourage our young people to find solutions to problems, and create their own systems. Having worked in many local authorities I have had lots of opportunities to work with a diverse range of people. Linking with partners to motivate and inspire our young people is what I love! Going on visits to businesses and when I hear how much they enjoyed their time it makes it all worth it!
Add: Love to lead young people in our digital world
Fav Pastime: Karaoke! Yes I love to sing with some favourites being Bonnie Tyler, Carly Simon or Amy MacDonald.
Favourite Place: Anywhere with water…Ullswater is now a firm favourite, where I go with my family camping. Water brings me peace and I love to paddle about on the lake to help relax. I have also , briefly, lived in Australia and had the most amazing time sailing and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
My Spirit Animal: My Spirit animal would have to be the cat, I have a beautiful grey and white medium haired boy, who is very loving and enjoys relaxing… a lot, which I also enjoy!
Super Power: I would love to be able to multiplicity myself, as there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done! I am very good at multi-tasking and can keep many tabs open!
What would I Tell Teenage me? Take that risk! Don’t let others tell you no.
First career aspiration as a child? At school I always loved Maths and Physics and thought I may become a teacher of those subjects. I guess I liked the logic that these coupled with Computing Science brings
