We’re excited to offer you the chance to participate in our Industry Buddy Program, organised by Barclays as part of the Ada Scotland Festival 2024.

This mentorship opportunity is designed to connect female and non-binary undergraduate or postgraduate students with experienced professionals in the tech industry.

No matter your academic background, if you have an interest in technology—even if you’re not in a STEM-based subject—this program is for you!

What’s in it for you?

– Industry Exposure: Learn about the wide range of careers within technology and how your skills can fit into the field, regardless of your major.

– Professional Guidance: Your mentor will serve as a valuable industry contact, helping you gain experience in professional communication, such as sending emails and scheduling calls.

– Career Insights: Explore the vast career opportunities in technology, beyond just technical roles, and see how diverse and exciting a tech career can be.

What to expect:

– This is a casual, informal program lasting around three months, with one call per month between you and your mentor. If your relationship is beneficial, you’re welcome to extend beyond this time.

– The goal is to provide a low-pressure environment for you to build your professional network and get guidance in your early career journey.

– You’ll play an active role by initiating contact with your mentor, scheduling calls, and asking questions to help develop your career skills and confidence.

Steps to get involved:

1. Sign up: Register your interest by emailing hello@ada.scot with your name, course, and college/university.

2. Matching process: We’ll follow up with additional questions to help match you with a suitable mentor.

3. Start the mentorship: Once matched, we’ll provide you with your mentor’s contact information, and you’ll be ready to reach out and begin the conversation.
