I am currently Head of Product at OVO where I focus on how we can provide the best support to our customers when they need it most. My career began at the Victoria Government through Entrepreneurial Scotland which opened the door to a job at Skyscanner. From there, I moved to Silicon Valley to join a startup working on experimentation software. It was an incredible experience to soak up the energy of the tech world and learn from some of the best. Today, I am passionate about working in the renewable energy space because I believe the climate crisis is one of the most important challenges we face.
Where is your favourite place?
Japan has to be my favourite having the opportunity to go to business school there, and it was such an amazing experience. I got to learn about Toyota up close and see how they approach innovation and improvement. It opened my eyes to a totally different way of thinking and working.
Ten years later I went back with my husband, and that trip felt really special. It was so nice to show him all the places I had lived and the little spots that had stuck with me. We were lucky enough to be there during cherry blossom season, and it honestly felt like the whole country had turned pink overnight.
What I love most about Japan is the mix of calm and energy. One day you can be walking through quiet temples or hiking in the mountains, and the next you are in Tokyo where everything feels so alive and exciting. And of course the food!
Favourite pastime
I enjoy a mix of different things. Singing is a big part of it for me, and I am part of a soul choir in Edinburgh. It is such a fun way to spend an evening and a great way to meet people. I also play netball for a local team, which keeps me active and gives me that bit of friendly competition I really enjoy.
I love being outdoors too, hiking and wild swimming in Scotland are incredible. I have not had as much free time lately since our daughter Orla arrived, but I am looking forward to getting back into those things as she gets a little older.
What is your spirit animal?
I would say I am a honeybee. I like moving through the hive, bringing people together and helping the right connections happen. I love introducing friends who just click and match people to exciting opportunities. Along the way, I try to make a bit of honey too, those sweet moments that come from shared laughter, good stories and the little surprises that make life interesting.
