An Introduction to Sensor Technology

Sensors are all around us. They are in automatic doors and supermarket tills, mobile phones and vehicles, gyms, hospitals and airports. Sensors detect aspects of the physical world and are used widely in lifestyle, fitness, healthcare, manufacturing and daily life.

In this online event Helen Sandison, an engineer at CENSIS, Scotland’s Innovation Centre for Sensors, Imaging and IoT (Internet of Things), will introduce the basics of sensor devices, how they work and what they are used for. Computing science skills alongside creativity and design, teamwork and collaboration are all needed in a typical day for a sensor engineer. With some case studies and interactive demos during the talk, get an insight into how engineers make sense of the world.

This session is suitable for High School students upwards and anyone with an interest in learning more about new technologies
