How Teaching Tech Innovation Can Help Shape the Future for Young Scots with Apps for Good

Apps for Good are thrilled to be part of the Ada Scotland Festival again this year.  Our computing courses give students the skills and motivation to shape their future through technology, while giving teachers the support and confidence to pick up and deliver high quality content and resources. We are an education charity committed to offering an opportunity for all. In the past 12 years, we’ve worked with almost 240,000 young people – with more than half of our schools in challenging circumstances and 50% of our students being girls. Thanks to the generous support of our partners, including Spotify and Google, our courses are 100% free to schools, as well as volunteering their industry expertise.

In this session, Jodie Campbell and Kathy Sheppard-Barnes from Apps for Good will introduce our two core courses at Apps for Good – Innovate for Climate Change and App for Social Action.

Each course teaches students in S1-S3 how to build an app prototype that positively impacts their world, either through the theme of climate action or social action. The session will explore the teacher resources and support, as well as explaining our new approach to student-driven learning.
