Scotland Women in Technology (SwiT)

Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT) exists to celebrate, champion and invest in women in the technology sector in Scotland. Championing diversity, inclusion and gender equality in technology is at the heart of what we do. Our commitment to equality is one of the driving forces behind our partnership with Cisco Academy.

We want women and girls to have opportunities and believe our free online courses can help provide this. By developing knowledge, skills, or experiences, we want to empower everyone to take their next steps in a technology career. We believe inspiration and learning begins at an early age. This can start from as young as SCHOOL.

As a parent or carer discussions around career choices can be difficult. Pursuing alternative career paths which may not be directly aligned to core school subjects can be daunting for both parents and/or carers and for students.  SWiT offers our free online courses to young people for this very reason! We want school age children to explore our courses and ultimately help their decision making.

Recent studies have shown that over one fifth of the workforce in Glasgow and Edinburgh are technology roles (Data analysed by Tech Nation for the Government’s Digital Economy Council). SWiT are here to address the current challenges our country faces in ensuring we have enough talented people to fulfil the demand for technology jobs in Scotland.
